Our Services
Protecting Your Drinking Water
Your water supply system is designed to deliver safe water under pressure. But if there’s a cross-connection between your water supply and a contaminated source, that safety can be compromised.
A sudden pressure drop in your system or the main supply line can create a vacuum. This can cause a siphoning effect, pulling contaminants back into the drinking water.
Likewise, back pressure within your system can force pollutants into the potable supply.
Both situations put public health at risk.
How We Help
We specialise in minimising and eliminating risks to potable drinking water supplies through surveying, training, auditing, and compliance support.
We have worked with — and continue to work with — many Territorial Authorities across New Zealand. We travel nationwide, so if you need help, we will come to you.
Consulting & Surveying
Cross-Connection Control Survey
When you’re unsure about the best way forward — whether protecting your potable water supply network (outside the boundary) or your internal water system (inside the boundary) — we’re here to help.
We’ll work with you to develop a cross-connection control programme, which may include:
· Detailed property surveys for internal potable water protection
· Practical advice on system design
· Guidance on the correct backflow prevention devices required
Our site survey work helps you identify hazards and make informed decisions. From the boundary to the source, we ensure the right backflow prevention devices are installed where they’re needed most — whether at the property boundary or within the system itself.
If you’re unsure, just give us a call — we’ll guide you through the process.
Training & Tutoring
Backflow Prevention Training with WSP Environmental
For many years, Jon has been the training facilitator for WSP Environmental, delivering the Backflow Prevention Unit Standards US23847 and US23848.
This four-day course covers both the theory and practical requirements for the installation, testing, and servicing of backflow prevention devices.
Course Delivery
· WSP runs courses at venues throughout New Zealand — check their website for upcoming dates.
· If you have enough participants, WSP can deliver a course directly in your region.
Refresher Courses
If you only need a refresher, a one-day course is available. These refresher courses are linked to the full backflow prevention programme and cover any updates to theory or practical testing methods.
Note: You must have previously completed US23847 and US23848 to attend a refresher course.

Backflow Installation Auditing
Part of undertaking a complete cross connection control backflow prevention program is having an independent audit. We can audit your backflow program to ensure you are getting the best protection for your water supply network.
Generally this will require an independent audit of your backflow prevention testing program to ensure the people you are relying on to undertake the testing and maintenance of the boundary backflow prevention devices are meeting specific standards that you set out.
This may include but is not limited to, health and safety, testing procedures, public consultation, suitability of practice, Accuracy, timeliness and suitability of testers.
Manufacture to Order
We have previously manufactured Backflow Prevention units, pre-assembled to your requirements. We do not offer this service anymore.
There is a failing in the industry to consider long term consequences of poor backflow device installations. If you are having issues around installation requirements we are happy to help solve your problems.
